About Archilei Music

The voice behind the harp

Anna O’Connell, the harp and voice behind Archilei Music, earned a doctorate in Historical Performance Practice at Case Western Reserve University. She has a special interest in accompanying herself through the ages—on medieval, renaissance, baroque and Celtic harps— and dressing the part! Anna recently recieved the Barbara Thornton Scholarship for Medieval Music from Early Music America, where she studied Italian medieval music and renaissance dance. She is a cantor at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Little Italy, where she loves singing songs in Italian, and a soloist at the Church of the Covenant in University Circle. She performs with the Cleveland Celtic Ensemble, Apollo’s Fire, the Cleveland Chamber Choir, and as a soloist all over the world! You can listen to her pop-folk music album here, and her YouTube channel here.

Keeping the Italy in Little Italy…Cleveland!

Archilei [Ark-key-lay] Music is named for a musician who lived at the dawn of western opera traditions, Vittoria Archilei, a famed singer from Rome. She performed for generations of Medici dukes and duchesses in Florence, Italy for their royal wedding festivities (which in those days could last several months!), singing and accompanying herself on various instruments. Like Vittoria, Archilei Music hopes to bring service of the very best to your wedding, or other special event, treating you and your guests to music fit for royalty!

“Anna sang and played harp at our wedding. She was extremely easy to work with and her performance was absolutely beautiful. She’s well versed in different types of music and performance styles, and is obviously comfortable at all different types of weddings. She’s the consummate professional musician. I’d for sure hire her again and recommend her highly to everyone!”
